Three Strategies for Business Success

April 4, 2012 in About ACEInspire, Featured, Headline

aceinspire co ownerThis blog post is short and sweet as I don’t want you to spend a lots of time reading my blog post, I want you to take action today and make your business better.

In this post I’m going to give you three strategies for success. Pick one and TAKE ACTION today.

1. Be First Success strategy one is be first. Being first at something gives you a number of benefits. You can market yourself as ‘authentic’ and ‘original’ and in doing so you can charge a premium. Being first you will start out with no competition at all, this will give you a chance to develop your idea before other businesses start snapping at your heels. Being first gives you the added benefit of compound effort or traction, you’ve already done a lot of the legwork and made the mistakes, other businesses have to play catch up to you. This is a nice position to be in.

2. Be Unique Take a tried and tested business model or idea and adapt it to include tried and tested bits from other business models. Businesses that have done this include Graze, taking the veg box delivery idea and applying it to products like nuts and seeds. Break some new ground and gain some attention.

3. Be the Best Seen a cool idea elsewhere but know that you can improve on it? What’s stopping you. Business thrives on competition. If you can’t be first be the best. Look at ways to improve functionality, efficiency and effectiveness and you’ll be on to winner. Just don’t forget to keep innovating as there’ll always be businesses trying to do it better than you.

Which can you be?

PR Tips – Ideas for Press Releases

March 23, 2012 in About ACEInspire, Blog, Featured, Headline, PR

Looking to write your own press releases, ACEInspire have a great free press release template as well as lots of tips on how to write press releases.

If you need some inspiration to come up with an angle for your press releases, we’ve compiled some of the things which you might want to include throughout the year:

  • Seasons - You can also tie in a press release with a holiday or special occasion. Could your business do something related to Valentines Day, Fathers Day or school holidays?
  • Charity work - Do not hide your light under a bushel if your business is making a donation to charity. A press release is a great way to let people know about community service, whether you offer training or apprenticeships to students or sponsor a local sports team.
  • New products - New services or products: focus on the benefits to your customers and the publication’s readers.
  • Achievements - Issue a press release when you or your employees are recognised for outstanding achievements or gain qualifications. Focus the release on how the award or qualification will help customers or clients.
  • Business launch - Launch of your business, or business expansion — of interest to local papers and trade and business publications. You could also mention the launch of a new or updated website.

If you are looking for ways to promote your business alongside press releases, ACEInspire have a free eCourse that is delivered direct to your inbox over 7 days giving you great information on how to promote your business.

Why Psychology is a Great Tool for Your Business

March 14, 2012 in About ACEInspire, Blog, Featured, Headline

Psychology is something I use every day in developing and marketing my own businesses, yet I don’t think I have ever written about it.

Don’t let the ‘ology’ put you off: psychology could be the secret business development tool that you have been missing out on. Using psychology can help you focus your products and services and maximise the effectiveness of your marketing. And all you really need to do is think about how your customers and potential customers think.

So, how do you put this into practice?

  • Generate a picture of your typical customer (I’ve written about this in A Guide to Promoting Your Business) and really get to know them. What are their problems and dilemmas, what makes them happy, and what is important to them?
  • When making a business decision, ask yourself about how customers will perceive it. Will is meet your typical customer’s needs or solve their problems?
  • Each time you communicate with a customer, ask yourself what thoughts and feelings your message will create for them? Will it ‘push their buttons’?

This may sound complex … but persevere, ask yourself this sort of question all the time when working on your business and it will become second nature.

Make a big leap

February 29, 2012 in About ACEInspire, Blog, Featured, Headline, Make money online

There is only one February 29th every 4 years. What are you going to do to make today count? Many of us want to make more money, and we’re going to give you a sneak peek into one concept you could adopt today that will help you boost your income, not just for the short term but for the future too:

We are in the midst of a time of change. Traditional manufacturing jobs are in decline, jobs in service industries are harder to find. However there are thousands of new ways to earn. Many of these new ideas for earning can be done part-time, in your spare hours, alongside raising a family or another job. You need to be open to opportunities and ready to learn and persist. If this sounds like something that you would love to do, and you are ready to commit time and effort, read on. There is hard work ahead of you, but the benefits are immense.

Life change starts here

We have three essential concepts that are key to making money. Get these ideas right and you will have taken the first step to changing the way you earn and taking the limits of just how much you can bring in:

Concept 1: Multiple Streams of Income

The first concept that will change the way you think about earning is multiple streams of income. Does the idea that your entire life is dependent on one source of income make you feel uncomfortable? You can end up in dire straits through no fault of your own. Gone are the days when jobs were for life and large establishments like Woolworths could never go down… but imagine this alternative scenario:

Sharon worked on the till at Woolies twenty hours a week, but she also has a number of other incomes. She writes a parenting blog that earns her £300 a month in advertising. She does some freelance writing for £150 per month. Sharon’s also just launched an eBook from a blog in a niche area which earns £75 a month and she’s in the process of launching an eCourse. Woolies go and what does Sharon do? She cuts back and lives off her other incomes. She spends her free time creating that eCourse which grows to earn her around £300 a month and she invested her redundancy money in another business opportunity which she hopes will be a big success.

No matter which of Sharon’s incomes disappear she has others on which to rely, and it is highly unlikely that all her incomes will dry up at the same time. This is the theory behind multiple streams of income.

What does this mean for you?

It means you do not need one big idea or lots of investment to cease being reliant on an employer. If you are a business owner it takes a lot of the risk out of being an entrepreneur as, instead of relying on one idea or one market you have a number of enterprises. You can build up an online income incrementally while still working or alongside your other commitments. This is exactly what we have done: we have built our incomes up gradually to a point where our ‘work’ is flexible and our incomes are multiple.

What do you think of this concept?

If you like this, and want to learn about the two other essential concepts for earning, we share them in the Help! I want to start earning course.  This course is available at half the usual price for this week only.

5 tips to help you keep on top of your books

February 27, 2012 in About ACEInspire, Blog, Featured, Headline

Book keeping can be a difficult task, especially if you leave it all till the end of a month or even the end of the tax year to sort out! So here are 5 tips to help you keep on top of books and not send you into a blind panic.

  1. Get organised. Before you attempt to start your books, make sure you have all the paperwork you need and have it neatly filed so you that when you are looking for a specific piece of information, you can find it quickly and easily.
  2. Keep on top. Don’t let your bookkeeping build up, file away all of your expenses, invoices etc as you get them and spend one day a month on your books so that it is not a big panic when you have your tax return to do at the end of the year. It will also help you if you are looking for investment or to invest money in new services or products as you will be able to see what capital you have available.
  3. Handwritten or software. To help you keep on top of your books you will now need to decide whether you are going to keep handwritten accounts or use bookkeeping software. There are some great advantages to using software as it is easy to see your cash flow at a click of a button and simple enough to keep on top of.
  4. Online or Desktop. Some accounting software providers supply two types of software small businesses can use. Intuit has two versions of the QuickBooks software, a desktop and an online version. Both have similar capabilities with each having 3 different packages but with QuickBooks online, you can use this anywhere, even on your mobile phone.
  5. Still struggling. If you are still struggling to keep on top of those books, get someone else to help you. Either outsource to an accountant or employ someone for a couple of hours a month to document all of you finances leaving you more time to work in your business.
